Services for Elsie Helm, 93, of Woden, who died Saturday, June 28, 1997 at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, at First Presbyterian church in Woden with Rev. Willis Nicholson as officiant.

Mrs, Steven Eden will be organist, Robert Eden will serve as an usher.

Casket bearers will be: Clarence Watson, Brad Buns, Lyle Doege, Bruce Hanna, George Smidt and Dennis Buns.

Burial will be in Bingham Township Cemetery in Woden. Visitation was from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden.

Elsie Lydia Helm, the daughter of Henry and Minnie (Klocke) Schauf was born May 13, 1904 on a farm near Woden. She attended the rural schools near Woden and then received her Normal Teaching Certificate when she graduated from Woden High School. She taught in the rural schools for several years.

On May 18, 1931, she was married to Jacob C. Helm at Thompson. They lived in Woden where they owned and operated the Jacob C. Helm Hardware Store from 1925 until 1950, when they retired. Elsie enjoyed her family and playing bridge.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women, Woden Senior Citizens and the Woden American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcene Wheeler and her husband, Sam, of Kansas City, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Helm, May 5, 1976; her daughter, Sharon Lindeman, March 23, 1996; a granddaughter, Susan Lindeman, in 1972; her parents; three brothers, Albert Schauf, Benjamin Schauf and Elmer Schauf and three sister, Helen Hanna, Ann Hanna and Laura Robinson.
