Services for Richard R. Bunkofske, 41, of Gamer, who died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 1990 at his home in Garner, were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 10 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. James I. Lamb as officiant, assisted by Vicar Clyde Kieschnick.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo was organist and soloist. Ushers were Ray Radloff, Arnold Steege and Earl Jasperson.

Honorary casket bearers were Leon Behrends, Ron Haberkamp, Ken Ausborn, Earl Graham, Duane Roberts and Bob Carpenter.

Active bearers were Monty Schlawin, Dean Stromer, Greg Greiman, Phillip Haaf, Larry Gilbert and Steve Claude.

Graveside military rites were conducted by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Richard Raymond Bunkofske, the son of Raymond and Dorothy Lillian (Horecka) Bunkofske, was born October 20, 1948 at Forest City. After graduating from Garner High School in 1967, he attended North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. Rick served his country in the U. S. Army from 1968 until 1974, in Vietnam. In 1975, he began working for Iowa Mold Tooling Company in Garner as a mechanic.

September 22, 1978, he married Patsey Anderson at Garner. They lived in Garner all of their married life.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, was a life-time member of the Garner V.F.W. and was active in the Garner Color Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Patsey Bunkofske of Garner; his children, Rachelle of Ft. Gordon, GA, Candice of Boone, Aaron of Garner and Raymond of Garner; his father, Raymond Bunkofske of Garner; a brother, William "Bill" Bunkofske and his wife, Cathy of Garner; two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Bates and her husband, Larry of Mason City, and Mrs, Sharon Farruggia and her husband, Charles of Concord, CA.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Bunkofske, January 16, 1989; and a brother, Theodore Bunkofske.
