Forest Wilson

Services were held Wednesday, June 9, 1993 for Forest R. Wilson, 82, who passed away Sunday, June 6, 1993 at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, IA, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, Iowa with the Rev. Robert Snitzer officiating. Organist, Barbara Larson accompanied soloist, Allan Peebles. Ushers were James Larson and Ronald Hartman.

Honorary casketbearers were Leroy Twait, James Nelson, Ralph Juhl and Orval Jamtgaard.

Casketbearers were Russell Helm, Eldean Maschoff, Ronald Hanson, Willard Peck, Walter Kingsbury and Wilbur Peterson.

Interment was in the Crystal Lake Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake, Iowa. Visitation was at The Ewing Funeral Home.

Forest, the son of Warren and Grace Mortimer Wilson was born, May 28, 1911 at Perry, Iowa. He moved with his family to a farm north of Crystal Lake when he was a child. He received his education in the country schools.

On March 31, 1935 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Hanson. The couple made their home in Crystal Lake. For many years Forest owned and operated a Fertilizer Company. The couple wintered in Texas and Arizona until three years ago when his health caused them to stay in Crystal Lake.

Forest was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake and past president of the church board. He enjoyed gardening and loved to play pool.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Crystal Lake; a daughter, Colleeen and her husband, Bill Gehrke of Lecompton, KS; two sons: Gary and his wife, Mary of Crystal Lake, IA; Greg Wilson of Booker, TX; two sisters: Helen Huff of Eagle Grove, IA and Verna Pierce of Riverside, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.
