Services for David Lee Nelson, 51, Crystal Lake, who died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held Saturday, Jan. 6, 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Kenneth Suetterlin officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Mabel Rensink, who accompanied vocalist, Alan Peebles, and the congregation hymns. Ushers were Russell Helm, Chris Gerdes, and Collin Fjetland.

Casket bearers were Duane Henry, Kelly Jensen, Mike Crombie, Todd Anderson, Jim Anderson and Bryce Juhl.

Burial was at the Crystal Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

David Lee Nelson, the son of James and Myrtle (Olson) Nelson, was born December 31, 1944, at Forest City. He was baptized and confirmed at the Crystal Lake Methodist Church.

He was a 1963 graduate of Woden-Crystal Lake High School. He attended Waldorf College at Forest City graduating in 1965. He also attended Mankato State College pursuing his interest in art.

May 22, 1971, he married Sondra Ehrich at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, MN. One son was born to them, Erik. After his marriage, he worked at the family grocery. He and his family later moved to Mankato, MN. and then returned to Crystal Lake.

David was always interested in art and collecting antiques. He thought very highly of his wife and son. He was a devoted husband and father, taking care of his wife during her illness. David and Erik were very close after the passing of Sondra. He will be missed by his family and friends, especially Erik.

He is survived by his son, Erik of Crystal Lake; his father, James of Crystal Lake; a sister, Marilyn Bjornsen of Decorah; a brother, James of Crystal Lake; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leona and Don Tesch of Blue Earth, MN; two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Anderson and Linda Crombie, both of Northfield, MN; two nieces, Diane Martin of Mason City and Sonja Dolan of Minneapolis, MN: and one nephew, Rany Bjornsen of Hillsboro, Wl.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra, on January 1, 1992; and his mother, Myrtle, on June 3, 1987.
