Retired Farmer Died Friday Evening Of Heart Attack.

Fred Kothenbeutel, 58, Died Friday Night At 10:30 O'clock

Funeral Services Were Conducted Monday At Evangelical And Reformed Church

Fred Kothenbeutel, 58, died suddenly Friday night of a heart attack at the Edw. Schaefer home, where he and his wife were rooming. Mr. Kothenbeutel was apparently in good health prior to his sudden death.

Mr. and Mrs. Kothenbeutel had been married only a little more than one month and were residing at the Edw. Schaefer home until they could move into their own home which they had recently purchased. Mrs. Kothenbeutel was the former Mrs. Winifred Merkel.

Funeral services for Mr. Kothenbeutel were held, at the Klemme Evangelical and Reformed Church Monday afternoon, January 26 at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Calvin Grosshuesch officiating.

Music was provided by Miss Iris Rosendahl at the piano, who accompanied the mixed quartet, Milvern Barz, Allen Barz, Mrs. A. H. Dulmes and Gertrude Grosshuesch who sang "Asleep In Jesus," and "Rock Of Ages."

Interment was on the family lot in the Ell Township Cemetery. Casket bearers were Emil Pringnitz, Albert Schmidt, Fred Neuhring, Art Johnson, Harald Eliason and Joe Kudje.

Rev. Calvin Grosshuesch read the following obituary:

Frederick William Kothenbeutel, son of William and Sophia Kothenbeutel, was born on the 6th day of June 1890, at Ackley, Iowa. His parents brought him to holy baptism during his infant years. He attended the public schools at Ackley and at the age of 16 he came with his parents to Kanawha, where the family lived on a farm.

He was united in marriage to Miss Ada Wenig on February 5th, 1913. Two daughters and one son were born to this union.

Throughout their married life they followed their chosen profession of farming. Three years were spent on a farm 7 miles southwest of Klemme; 11 years on a farm 4 miles east; and 14 years on a farm southwest of Klemme.

The family united with the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Klemme, and proved themselves loyal and true members. Mr. Kothenbeutel served the congregation as Deacon, from 1930 to 1935.

Mrs. Kothenbeutel died November 21, 1942. Mr. Kothenbeutel continued to farm until 1947, when he moved to Klemme to make his home with his son, Harold.

On the 6th of December 1947 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Winifred Merkel of Klemme. They bought a home and had made all necessary arrangements to move in soon, when Mr. Kothenbeutel died suddenly at 10:30 o'clock Friday evening, January 23, 1948.

Surviving and mourning his untimely death are his wife: Mrs. Winifred Kothenbeutel; his daughters Emma (Mrs. Ronald Barz,) Klemme, and Gladys (Mrs. Marvin Barz,) Ventura; and one son Harold. Klemme; his father, Wm. Kothenbeutel, of Rochester, Minn.; 3 sisters: Martha (Mrs. Manvil Hegg) and Sophia (Mrs. Wm. Brand,) Kanawha; Lizzie, Faribault, Minn.; four brothers: William, Klemme; George, Minneapolis; Roy and John, Rochester. His step-children, Dean Merkel., Forest City; Mrs. Lyle Dolder, Gowrie; and 6 grandchildren.
