Services for Anna Abbas, 87, who died Saturday, Jan. 31 at her home in Britt, Ia. were held Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Britt Christian Reformed Church in Britt with Rev. Verlyn Vander Top officiating.

Mrs. Clarence Harringa, organist, accompanied the congregation in hymns. Ushers were William Eckels and Jeremiah Schmidt.

Casket bearers were Ben Hinders, Steve Hasty, Lee Fedders, Ronald Eisenman, Norman Mehl and Larry Cooper.

Interment was in the Woden Christian Reformed Church,Cemetery with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Anna Abbas, daughter of John and Johanna Benninga Cooper, was born September 1, 1899 near Kanawha.

On February 3, 1921 she was united in marriage to Anno Abbas in her parent's home. She was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church until 1926 when the couple moved to a farm near Woden where she became a member of the Woden Christian Reformed Church. She was the church organist and choir director, taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of Ladies Aid.

In 1961 they moved to Britt where she became a member of the Britt Christian Reformed Church. Anna was very active in the church until the last few years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers Ubbo, Gratus, John and Jim.

Anna is survived by her husband Anno; one daughter Norma and her husband Donald Tapper of Buffalo Center; one son Kenneth and his wife Sally of Des Moines; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; four brothers Art of Nampa, ID, George and Albert of Kanawha, and William of Clear Lake; three sisters Mrs. Grace Hoel of Clear Lake, Mrs. Gertrude Knoll of Mason City and Mrs. Hattie Smidt of Britt.
