Sunday evening, Sept. 29, a four year old mare belonging to Eric Evenson, living two miles south of Ellington post office, broke away from the man who was leading it to water.

Mr. Evenson made an attempt to catch the horse and as he came along side of it, it kicked him in the groin and he died Tuesday from the effects of the injury. Dr. H. T. Schneider arrived soon after the fatal injury was received, and Dr. Nason, of Albert Lea, was also summoned, but nothing could be done for the unfortunate man. He was conscious up till death and suffered great pain.

Mr. Evenson was about 54 years old and was born in Norway, first settling in Clayton county this state. He came to the Ellington neighborhood in 1868. A widow and eleven children survive him.
