Mrs. E. Strandberg Dies; Resided With Daughter In Kansas
Funeral Arrangements Are Indefinite; Burial To Be In Concord

Mrs. Elnora Strandberg, 84, a resident of Garner for many years, died Sunday afternoon at he home of her daughter, Mrs Alice Mitchell at Pleasanton, Kan., where she had lived since last November. Mrs. Strandberg had not been well since Christmas and was confined to her bed last week.

Mrs. Strandberg and her only daughter, Alice, arrived in Garner from Ystad, Sweden Nov. 21, 1889, to join their husband and father, H. P. Strandberg, who came to this country in May of the same year. Mr. Strandberg was a shoemaker and followed that trade until his death in February, 1934. They erected a home here in which they lived continuously.

Mrs. Strandberg had been a continuous member of Relief chapter, Order of Eastern Star, for about 27 years. During that time she had held various offices. For about 23 years she had been affiliated with the White Shrine at Mason City. She was a faithful member of the local Congregational church until its dissolution.

In spite of her advanced age she did much Red Cross knitting here for men in the service. She was awarded a service pin which can be worn only by a person who has devoted 200 or more hours to Red Cross work. She was also active in Red Cross work in World War No. I.

Funeral arrangements are indefinite, pending arrival of the daughter and her husband today (Wednesday). Burial will be in Concord cemetery beside the body of Mr. Strandberg.

Funeral For Mrs. E. Strandberg Conducted On Thursday Afternoon

The funeral for Mrs. Elnora Strandberg, 84, who died April 30 at Pleasanton, Kan, was held Thursday afternoon at Bohn Funeral home. Burial was in Concord cemetery.

The only survivor is a daughter, Mrs. Alice Mitchell, of Pleasanton, Kan., Who with her husband came last Wednesday for the funeral.

Mrs. Strandberg was born July 29, 1859, at Hagestat, Sweden. She and her daughter came to this country in 1889 to join Mr. Strandberg, and the family lived here many years.
