Passing Of Mrs. Henrietta Roenfranz
Died - at the home of her son, Albert, on Friday noon, Nov. 14, 1919, Mrs. Henrietta Roenfranz, aged 81 years, 5 months, 6 days.
While death had been expected from age infirmities it was no less a shock and words are inadequate to express the sorrow of children and friends as they gazed at the upturned face of her who had watched their footsteps in infancy and guided them into correct paths in their young man and womanhood.
Henrietta Steinke was born June 13, 1838, in Germany. In infancy she was baptized in the Lutheran church and was a life-long member of the same. In 1865 she was married to Carl Roenfranz. She came with her her family to this country in 1884, and lived a few months in Joliet, Ill. They then immigrated to Iowa and to this county.
The immediate cause of her death was bronchitis. A little more than a year ago her husband died and since that time she felt very lonesome and often expressed a great desire to depart this world for the one beyond. During her life of more than three score and ten, the allotted age of man, she had been a devoted Christian wife and mother, and as she goes from among us she leaves her family and friends that richest of all blessings, the remembrance of a noble christian character and a belief that she has gone to enjoy her inheritance in the precious promise of the Cross.
Her remains were laid to rest in St. John's cemetery on Wednesday, November 19 after services in St. John's Lutheran church conducted by Rev. Koch. The strikingly beautiful flowers and the number present gave silent testimonial of the esteem in which she was held.
Deceased was the mother of eight children. Two died in early infancy. Those surviving her are Albert of this place, G. R. of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Wm. Hoffman of Pontiex, Canada , Mrs. Albert Weber, Mrs. John Grell and Mrs. Earl Braddock of Braman, Okla. They were all present at the funeral service. The family desire to express their thanks to friends and neighbors for the kindness shown in their bereavement.
