Little Andy Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Phillips died Saturday, Jan 24, 1914. Andy died at the age of 13 years, 9 months and 6 days. Little Andy, as he was generally known among his friends, had a friendly disposition and seldom seen without a smile.
Andy was born near Woden, April 18, 1900. He spent his entire life in Bingham township. He had been attending public school on Monday, Jan. 12, came home from school complaining of his side and gradually grew worse. When taken to the doctor the ailment was pronounced appendicitis, but was not considered serious. On Jan. 20 he was taken to Algona where an operation was performed, after which he appeared to be getting better, but Saturday morning the doctor called his parents to his bedside, and he lived only a few minutes after their arrival.
Funeral services were held from the Congregational church on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 2:30, Rev. Hopkins conducting the services. Interment was made in the Bingham township cemetery.

The case was a very serious one from the start, but hopes were entertained that an immediate operation would be successful but the disease was in such a violent form that no relief was secured. The parents have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
