1907-1986Services were held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19, at the United Methodist Church in Goodell for Harold Elmer Savogue, age 79, who died Saturday evening, Feb. 15, at Belmond Community Hospital, where he had been a patient for about 3 1/2 months. The Rev. Herb Shafer officiated. Burial was in Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell.
Harold, the son of John and Minnie (Africa) Savogue, was born January 5, 1907 in Goodell. He was a graduate of Goodell High School and attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls for one year. He assisted his parents in the Savogue Cafe until it was sold. He was then employed by Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. for 15 years. After his retirement he continued to live in his home in Goodell, and in 1984 he moved to an apartment in Belmond.
He served as town clerk and as a town council member for a number of years in Goodell.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was its treasurer for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arthur.
Only survivors are his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Savogue of Des Plaines, Ill., cousins and many friends.
