Charles Peterson Final Rites Held

Funeral services for Charles Peterson, 59, were held Friday afternoon at the EUB church, Rev. Park E. Miller officiating. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Avron, Russell and Kenneth Kreitlow, Melvin Peterson, John and Christie Peterson. Boone Funeral Home was in charge and burial was in Amsterdam cemetery.

Son of a Lars and Korna Peterson, James Charles Peterson was born at Reinbeck on March 10, 1885. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith at the rural community of Fredsville and attended school and church at a country schoolhouse there.

In 1896 the Peterson family moved to Wright county, settling at Dows; and in 1901 they moved to a farm east of Goodell. On Oct. 1, 1913, Charles was wed to Elizabeth Christie of Goodell. Three sons were born to them, all of whom survive.

Mr. and Mrs. Peterson lived on several farms in the Goodell vicinity before moving to town in 1940. He thereafter followed the carpentry trade. He had been in failing health the past year, but his death Tuesday of last week came very suddenly and unexpectedly.

Surviving beside his wife and sons - Edward of Goodell, James of Belmond and Donald of Rockwell - are two brothers and three sisters: Pete of Goodell and Andrew of Britt, Mrs. Harvey (Clara) Harberts of Goodell, Mrs. L. L. (Hannah) Wilson and Mrs. W. J. (Mary) Duntz, both of Des Moines. Three grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters.
