Final rites held for Rhoda O'Krueg
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon of last week for Mrs. Rhoda O'Krueg, who died the preceding Thursday at Belmond Community hospital at the age of 87 years, one month and one day. She had suffered for many years from a heart ailment.
Rev. Forrest Lay and Rev. Park E. Miller officiated over the final rites, conducted at the Goodell EUB church, and Fulton Funeral Home was in charge. Burial was in Amsterdam cemetery. Pallbearers were Merle Ruka, Donald Burk, John Peterson, Raymond Cline, James Peterson and Lloyd Pringnitz.
Rhoda Smith Church was born Jan. 8, 1874, at Clintonville, Wis., daughter of Jedilah and Rebecca Church. She was one of 11 children. On Jan 8, 1893, she was married to Gustave O'Krueg of Oshkosh, Wis., where they made their home for three years.
In 1896 they moved to Goodell, and thereafter were residents of that community. Mr. O'Krueg preceded his wife in death, his passing occurring on the same date - Feb. 9 - 1951.
Mrs. O'Krueg is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Ruby) Ruka of Goodell and Mrs. Leroy (Dortha) Rhodeback of New Lexington, O. She also leaves three grandchildren, and two sisters.
