Services Thursday for William F. Lau
William F. Lau died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, at a Mason City hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the First Methodist church with the Rev. C. Dana Boggie officiating. His topic will be, "Many Mansions," and the text will be from John 14:2-3.
Words of Comfort were sung by Richard Smithson, soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Richard Smithson.
Interment was made in Ell Township cemetery, Klemme, with Bohn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Kermit Koerner, Gerald Koerner, Roy Arnold, Verne Hamilton, Ben Asche and Art Jass.
William F. Lau was born west of Klemme on Dec, 25, 1881, the son of Henry and Mary Rosewag [Roswag] Lau. He attended schools in the Klemme community. On June 1, 1904, he was married to Sena Blank who passed away on Dec. 27, 1925. He married Helen Olive Liscomb at Clear Lake on April 3, 1928. She preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 1963. Mr. Lau has lived in Garner since 1910 and served as section foreman for the Rock Island railroad for many years, retiring in 1945.
Surviving are four sons, Leonard of North Bethesday, Maryland; Melvern, Des Moines; LeRoy, Algona; Alfred, Indianola; three step sons, Harold, Racine, Wis.; Kenneth, Pamona, Calif.; and Curtis, Garner; two step daughters, Mrs. Elsie Harris, Eldorado, Kan, and Mrs. Golda Lee, Clear Lake; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Koerner, Mrs. Elmer (Nellie) Arnold and Leona Lau, all of Klemme, and Mrs. Esther Day of Hubbard, Ore.; four brothers, George, Lloyd, Wesley and Erwin, all of Klemme.
