Goodell - This community was saddened when it was learned that Mrs. Peter Lackore had died suddenly at her farm home southwest of town, Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Lackore had gone outside to care for her chickens and when she did not return to the house after a certain period of time, her son, Gage, decided to go and see what the trouble was. He found her dead in the chicken house, she having brought the feed and water to the flock.
Emma Christenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Christenson, was born at New Hartford, Oct. 13, 1881. She had been in failing health for the past two years but was still able to carry on her home work.
When a small child she came with her parents to a farm near Belmond, later moving to their farm just east of town. There she continued to reside until she was married to Peter Lackore in 1905. To this union were born two children, Gage who lives at home, and Dorothy (Mrs. Vere Jenison), of Belmond. The Lackores lived on farms in this community during their entire married life.
Surviving are her husband, two children, 13 grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Deimer, Freeport, Ill.; Mrs. Alpha Church, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Carrie Hughes, Garner; two brothers, Henry Christenson of Kanawha, and Harvey Christenson of Cicero, Ill.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the U. B. church at Goodell at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. Carlton Spencer officiating. Music was furnished by the quartet, Mrs. Melvin Sorenson, Eleanor Ruka, V. E. Harris and Bill Butts. Pallbearers were O. Sandberg, L. W. Wesenberg, Chas. Conklin, W. F. Beier, L. G. Avery and Walter Mason.
