Louise Anna Kemp

Louise Heginger Kemp was born on October 26, 1892 at Goodell, Hancock county, Iowa. In early infancy, her parents, Joseph and Louise Heginger, brought her to the Lord in Holy Baptism. She was baptized in Cedar Falls, Iowa by the Rev. C. Hast on November 27, 1893.

After finishing a prescribed course of instruction in the Christian faith, she was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church on March 20, 1910 by former pastor, the Rev. W. Meier.

In 1913, she was united in marriage to Frank Kemp; the ceremony being performed in Goodell. Four children were born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Kemp lived at Ft. Dodge for about a year. Since that time, they have made their home in the Goodell vicinity and coming to Belmond in 1917.

Mrs. Kemp has been ill for a number of years. However for the last year, and especially since the forepart of December, her ailment kept her bedfast. During her illness, she patiently bore the cross that had been placed upon her. Under severe affliction she patiently waited the day when God's call would come to her. She fell peacefully asleep on Tuesday morning, February 26 at 8:40 o'clock.

Surviving are her husband, Frank Kemp; four children, Mrs. Esther Malzar of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Arthur of Goodell, Mrs. Ruth Meyer of Latimer and Elmer, presently stationed with the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Also mourning her passing are a sister, Mrs. Theodore Kemp of Goodell, four brothers, George and William Heginger of Belmond, and Herman and Ben of Goodell, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kemp was active in the work of St. John's Ladies' Aid though not a member of that organization. She was an active member of St. John American Lutheran Church.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon. A short prayer service was held at the house, with funeral services conducted at St. John Lutheran Church, Rev. H. Senft officiating. Burial was made in the Goodell Cemetery.

In her memory gifts were designated to the placing of a stained glass window in St John Lutheran Church. Other memorials in her memory were given to missions and other causes.
