August 26, 1920 - August 7, 2011Bernadine Hildman, 90, of Britt, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
Funeral services for Bernadine Hildman will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt with Father Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Britt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bernadine Susan was born August 26, 1920, to Frank and Katherine (Becker) Hilbert in Algona, Iowa. She attended Livermore and St. Joseph schools. After school, she worked for some farmers around the area as a hired girl helping around farms and babysitting families.
On February 21, 1950, Bernadine was united in marriage to Rudolph Hildman in St. Joseph, Iowa. They lived in St. Joe until they moved to Rudolph’s family farm east of Wesley, where they raised their 3 sons. In 1969, they moved to Britt and have resided there ever since.
Bernadine was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she taught Catechism for two years. She liked to cook; she was always making noodles, and baking bread and pies. Bernadine enjoyed embroidering and quilting. She also always made Saturday mornings house-cleaning day.
Bernadine is survived by her husband of 61 years Rudolph of Britt; three sons: Luke Hildman (special friend Evelyn) of Britt, Tommy (Valjean) Hildman of Britt, and Mike Hildman of Britt; two grandchildren: Todd (Erika) Hildman of Algona, and Michelle Hildman (Raymie Luse) of Britt; four great-grandchildren: Logan, Kasey, Cole, and Autumn; along with nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters: Anna, Mary, and Florence.
