Herman J. Heginger
Herman J. Heginger, 80, a resident of Sheffield for seven years and former resident and farmer near Goodell, died in Mercy hospital at Mason City early Tuesday morning, July 19. He had been in failing health for the past four years.
Funeral services were held Fri., July 22 at 10:00 a.m. in Zion-St. John Lutheran church at Sheffield. Rev. John Rohde of Hampton officiated. Burial was made in Amsterdam Cemetery at Goodell. Pallbearers were Merland Norris, Gene Evans, Arthur Pringnitz, Robert Fischer, Bruce Evans, Raymond Cline. Grarup Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Herman Joseph Heginger, son of Joseph Heginger and Louisa Pitsch Heginger, was born on a farm near Goodell on Sept. 30, 1896. He grew up and lived on this farm until his retirement to Sheffield in December of 1969. He attended country school near Goodell. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
He was united in marriage to Mabel Evans and the couple farmed the Heginger home farm until their retirement. He was a faithful member of the Zion-St. John Lutheran church.
Surviving are his wife, Mabel; one son, Byron J.; three grandchildren, Brenda, Brice and Burton Heginger, all of Sheffield; one brother, Benjamin of Belmond.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, three brothers.
