The Goodell community was saddened Wednesday a.m. when word came to town that Mrs. Charles Halfpop, age 60, had passed away at her home east of town. She had been in failing health the past few years and bedfast this summer and cared for by her sister, Mrs. George Langlitz of Meservey.

Amanda Dorthea Willer was born April 28, 1886 in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany. At the age of 15 years she came to America with her parents settling at Meservey. July 4, 1886 she was baptized and April 1, 1900 was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. December 14, 1905 she was married to Charles Halfpop and they started farming where the Katuin family lives, later moving to their present home where they have lived 32 years. Five children were born to this union.

She leaves to mourn her husband and children: Mrs. Harvey Hubbard (Edith) of Klemme, Paul of Goodell, Mrs. George Christie (Margaret), Mrs. Emmett Hoyt (Ruby) of Garner and Mrs. Albert McNutt (Gladys) of Chaska, Minn. 10 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. George Langlitz of Meservey and three brothers, Max of Lawrence, Kansas, Rudolph of Meservey and Hans of Marion, Michigan.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 20th, 1946 at 1:30 p.m. at the Halfpop home and 2 p.m. in the Goodell United Brethren church with the Rev. Carleton Spencer officiating. The mixed quartet, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Cook, Mrs. Bell and Mr. Harris, sang with Mrs. Kurtz at the piano. Pallbearers were Walter Kohler, Harry and Enno Ostendorf, John Lauen, Dale Shelton and Ray Michaelson. Interment was in the Amsterdam cemetery.
