Services held for Geo. H. Greiman

George H, Greiman, 89, died Sunday at Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner, where he had been a resident for some time. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Zion United Church of Christ. The Rev. Leroy Franz officiated, using Acts 16: 25-26 as his text. Hymns, "Rock of Ages" and "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me" were sung by Mrs. Gordon Upmeyer, Mrs. Dale Greiman and Mrs. Virgil Eberline, accompanied by Mrs. H. G. Voetberg, organist.

Burial was made in Concord Cemetery, with the Bohn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Harvey Goll, Emory Weaver, Curtis Upmeyer, Curtis Greiman, Ronald Greiman and Clarence Lenz.

Born August 12, 1877, on a farm south of Garner, he was the eldest of 14 children of Fred and Dena (Katter) Greiman. He was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed faith at Peace Reformed Church in Ell Township. He received his schooling in the rural schools.

On January 23, 1901, he was married to Nonie Goll by the Rev. John Gaterman and they observed their 62nd wedding anniversary before her death in 1963. They farmed in Liberty Township until moving to Garner in 1920. The inventor of a ditching and tiling machine, he organized the Greiman Manufacturing Co. He worked as a contractor on sewer and water lines completing his last job in 1960, at the age of 83.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Dena) Stille, and five sons, Edwin, Marvin, Howard, Wilson and Norman, all of Garner; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; six brothers, William, Addis, Clarence, Ben, Henry and Oscar, and two sisters, Mrs. Louis (Lydia) Weaver and Mrs. Mathilda Lenz, all of Garner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, Edward, Herman and Fred, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Goll and Mrs. Charles (Meta) Griffen.

Born Aug. 12, 1877, at Garner, he was one of 14 children of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Greiman. He was married to Nonie Goll Jan. 23, 1901. She died in 1963.
