Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14, 1984, at the United Methodist Church in Klemme for Rieka Marie Green, 88, who died July 10 at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home. Rev. Herbert Shafer officiated. Burial was in the Corwith cemetery. Carter-Ewing Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Rieka Marie Hippen, daughter of John and Bertha Hippen, was born on a farm near Kanawha on December 11, 1896. She was baptized and confirmed as a member of the Klemme United Methodist Church.
As she grew up on a farm, she attended the rural county schools. She was united in marriage with Edward Green on July 2, 1919 at Garner. The couple farmed near Corwith and later farmed near Klemme.
In 1970 they retired and moved into Goodell. She enjoyed quilting and gardening and was a member of the Goodell American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons: Larry at infancy, Wilbur in 1968 and Lyle in 1960; her husband Edward in June, 1974.
Surviving are her four sons: Robert of LaHabra, CA; Harold of Corwith; Delbert of Cincinnati, OH; and Wallace of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Madelyn Adamson of Kenosha, WI; 20 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Lee Robbins, Gerald Burk, Don May, Robert Mitchell, Willard Dunfee and Ken Robbins.
