Sevilla Gartin

Sevilla Ott, daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth Ott, was born in Hardin County, Iowa, December 12, 1871, and passed away on Saturday night, August 31, 1946, between nine o'clock and nine thirty in a hospital at Hampton, where she had been taken after a brief illness at her home at Belmond, Iowa, aged 74 years, eight months and 19 days.

She is survived by one daughter, Avis, Mrs. Henry Saatoff of Hampton, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. A. A. Johnson of Britt, Iowa, Mrs. Hattie Kitch, of Steamboat Rock, Mrs. Gellhorn, Steamboat Rock; one brother, George Ott of Robertson, Iowa.

She attended country school, and spent her girlhood in a neighborhood between Eldora and Iowa Falls in Hardin County.

She was united in marriage to Oscar Gartin, of Kanawha, at Eldora on November 23, 1889.

They took up farming near Kanawha, later moving to Goodell, where they operated a hardware and implement business. The moved to Belmond in 1912. Mr. Gartin doing carpenter work until the time of his death, which occurred on September 21st, 1943. Mrs. Gartin followed the profession of practical nursing for many years, ministering to the sick almost to the day of her death.

Funeral services were held at the Fulton funeral home. Burial was in the Goodell cemetery.

The heartfelt sympathy of their friends and neighbors goes out to the bereaved family in their sorrow.
