Ralph Foster

Ralph Foster, son of George and Mary Foster, was born March 8, 1890, at Clinton, Ill. The first ten years of his life were spent in Illinois. The family moved to a farm northeast of Kanawha in January of 1900. There he resided until 1910, when he moved into town.

On Oct, 3, 1914, at Sandwich, Ill., he was married to Edna Thorson. To them was born one child, Gordon.

Mr. Foster spent his entire life engaged chiefly as a mechanic, which work he loved. He had been associated with the firm of Moeller and Brunson in recent years.

His ill health and death came as a shock to all, when he passed away Dec. 1, from a heart condition, at the age of 59 years, eight months, 23 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his son Gordon; one brother, Carl; and one sister, Alice.

Surviving are two brothers - Roy and Floyd of Kanawha; two sisters - Nettie, Mrs. Nels Thorson, and Grace, Mrs. O. C. Thorson, both of Kanawha; and one grandson, Rickey Foster, also of Kanawha.

In early childhood he was baptized in the Christian church at Clinton. He held membership in the Odd Fellows Lodge of Kanawha. He was a kind husband and father, a workman who quietly went about his tasks, striving to accommodate and serve well his patrons.

Funeral services were held at the Kanawha Methodist church Saturday afternoon Dec 3, with the Rev. R. D. Kitterman officiating. Music was furnished by the Methodist choir. Interment was made in the Kanawha cemetery.
