Death of W. G. Elder

Pioneer of Hancock County Passes Away at Oklahoma City December 28th

W. G. Elder, one of the early residents of this county, died in Oklahoma City, on December 28th. His remains were shipped to Goodell, his old home, and interment was in the cemetery there Saturday morning last.

Wm. Elder was born in Indiana county, Pennsylvania, in the year 1961. When a child of but three years he came to Hancock county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Elder, grew to manhood here, and was a familiar figure about the vicinity of Goodell until 1908 when he moved to Oklahoma City. From the date of his arrival here which was 1864, it will be seen that he was one of the old settlers.

Brothers of Mr. Elder whom we can recall are: Walter, Marion, James, Newton, Adrian. The sisters - Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Smith. He was also a cousin of Mrs. H. H. Hoag and Miss Jennie Elder, and Mrs. Kate Straw.
