August "Buddy" Brunsen Jr.
July 23, 1927 - June 22, 2011August “Buddy” Brunsen, Jr., 83, of Bloomington, Minnesota, formerly of Britt, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial Mass for August “Buddy” Brunsen Jr. will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt with Reverend Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Britt.
A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the memorial Mass at the church on Friday. Ewing Funeral Home in Britt is assisting the family.
Buddy was born on July 23, 1927 to August and Hannah (Bruns) Brunsen in Woden, Iowa. He received his schooling in Woden. Buddy was a “country boy” and a farmer all his life even though he had lived 45 years in Bloomington, Minnesota. He farmed the home place with his father; Buddy left for the military/Army and served from 1950-1952 in Korea. He returned to farming until the farm was sold in 1966.
He enjoyed cards, sports, fishing, hunting, and ballgames, especially Twins and Vikings games. He was very devoted to his children and grandchildren and enjoyed being with them.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 55+ years Mary Ann; three children: daughter Deborah (David) Steffl, sons Dean and Duane (Molly); six grandchildren: Joshua and Racheal Steffl, Derek and Andrew Brunsen, Aryn and Hannah Brunsen; two sisters: Anna Kindl and Birdie Leerar; sister in law Rose (Henry) Brunsen; brother in law Marvin (Betty) Sherman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: John, Herbert, Fritz, Henry, Burdella, and Betty.
