Final rites held for Dale F. Schlei
The funeral services for Dale Fredrick Schlei, 57, were held Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. from the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ of Klemme, with thew Rev. Marvin Lehmann officiating.
Comfort in music was supplied by Mrs. Gordon Beier, with Mrs. Marvin Lehmann, the soloist. Hymns used were: "Rock of Ages," and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee."
The pallbearers were: Bill Grange, Jack McCartan, Richard Abbas, Earl Sorenson, Jim Quinlan, and Herbert Pearson. He was laid to rest in the Klemme cemetery. The Andrew Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schlei was born April 8, 1917 in Twin Lake township of Hancock county, and died January 2, 1975, at the age of 57 years, 8 months, and 24 days. He was the son of Elmer and Bertha (Haupt) Schlei.
Dale was raised and attended rural schools near Klemme and graduated from the Klemme high school. After he completed his education he farmed with his parents on their home farm and continued farming with his mother after his father's death.
On April 28, 1943 he was united in marriage to Lillian Juhl in the Lutheran parsonage at Clear Lake.
He retired from farming 5 years ago because of ill health and has been seriously ill the past three months.
Dale was a member of the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme and had been baptized and confirmed in the same church. He was a member of the Belgian Draft Horse Association. He raised Belgian horses in past years. Just last summer he judged the Belgian class at the Iowa State Fair.
Survivors include his wife Lillian; a daughter, Mrs. Terry (Cheryl) Meints of Klemme; and one granddaughter, Tracy Meints.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
