Services Held For Lela Montgomery, 65
Services for Mrs. Lela Montgomery, 65, of Klemme, who died Friday, at a Mason City Nursing Home, were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 11th, at the United Methodist Church in Klemme, with Rev. Donald L. Campbell officiating. Organist, Mrs. Robert Schulz, accompanied Mrs. Wayne Whitney and Mrs. Roy Arnold, who sang as a duet. Ushers were Everett Guth and Wayne Whitney.
Casket bearers were: Howard Broderson, George Woodring, Don Casler, Russell Shanks, Marvin Juhl and Walter Badde. Interment was in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme with the Cataldo Funeral Home of Garner in charge of arrangements.
Lela Edith Montgomery, the daughter of William and Elvina (Knoke) Bachman, was born February 21, 1912, at Klemme. She grew up in Klemme and was a graduate of Klemme High School. October 8, 1935, she was married to Clifford Montgomery in Klemme, where they lived throughout their married life.
She belonged to the United Methodist Church, the Woman's Society of the Methodist Church, Grandmother's Club and the North Iowa Rock Club.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Carole) Thovson of Tacoma, Washington; a son, H. W. "Bud" Montgomery and his wife LaVon of Garner; 3 grandchildren, Mrs. David (Diane) Nolan, David Thovson and Ann Montgomery; and a brother, Clarence Bachman of Klemme.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Edward Bachman.
