Rites held Wednesday for Clara Heller
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Heller of Forest City were held Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran church. The Rev. John Hieronymus and the Rev. Ole Winter officiated. Mrs. And Mrs. Rolfe Holtan sang two duets and Leonard Markusen was organist. Honorary pall bearers were Mrs. Heller’s grandchildren: Jeanette Adams, Cheryl Brown, Richard Heller, David Heller, Bryan Heller, Sara Heller, Sally Heller Davis, Paul Heller, Steven Heller, Jon Heller, Karin Heller, Angela Heller and Robert Heller. Casket bearers were Harry Halvosen, Rolfe Holtan, Stanford Holtan, Arnold Moe, Harlan Moe and John Ouderkerk. Burial was in Madison Township cemetery with the Petersen Funeral home handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Heller, 87, suffered a stroke Feb. 3, and after hospitalization in Mason City, died at the Americana Healthcare Center Sunday. Clara I. Heller was born May 3, 1895, near Ute to Rhinehart and Ann Johnson Anenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Soldier Valley Lutheran church and received her education near Ute. Jan 27, 1915 she was married to Frank Heller. The couple farmed in Iowa and Minnesota until moving to a farm in Hancock County in 1944. Mr. Heller died Aug 18, 1972, and in 1973, Mrs. Heller moved to her present home in Forest City. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and a life member of the former Women’s Missionary Federation.
Survivors include her five children: Mrs. Byron (Ruth) Green of Mankato, Minn., the Rev. Perry Heller of Rockwell, Kenneth Heller of Garner, Herbert Heller and Bernard Heller of Mankato, Minn; a sister, Mrs. John (Lena) Inglett of Rock Rapids: 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Earl, in infancy, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
