Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Moore returned Saturday evening from Corwith, their former home, where they visited their nephew, J. W. Duckett, and Mr. Moore did some work Friday and Saturday.

J. W. Duckett, Corwith, Dies
Theater Man, Former Postmaster, School Board Secretary
Corwith - J. W. Duckett, 52, former Corwith postmaster and secretary of the school board of education at Corwith, died at 10:30 o'clock Monday forenoon at a Des Moines hospital. He had been in poor health for several years and had been in the hospital since Wednesday.

J. W. Duckett Funeral Held
Corwith Theater Man, Former Rural Letter Carrier, Postmaster
Corwith - Funeral services for J. W. Duckett, retired postmaster at Corwith and resident of Corwith and vicinity for nearly 50 years, were held Thursday at 1:30 o'clock at the Methodist church. The Rev. A. J. Barkley officiated and burial was made in the Corwith cemetery.
Mr. Duckett was rural letter carrier at Corwith for a number of years and later was postmaster until 1934 when he retired. Since that time he had operated the Merchants theater. He had served as secretary of the board of education at Corwith for 18 years and was holding that office at the time of his death.
His wife and two sons survive.

Duckett Rites Are Conducted
Former Postmaster at Corwith Victim of Lingering Illness
Corwith - Funeral services for J. W. Duckett, 53, Corwith postmaster for 14 years, were held Thursday at the Methodist church, the Rev. A. J. Barklye officiating. Burial was made in the Corwith cemetery. Mr. Duckett died Monday at a Des Moines hospital after a lingering illness.
A quartet composed of Loyd Stroup, J. Worth Miller, Lynn Genung and H. V. Caldwell sang with accompaniment by Miss Esther Smith.
Mr. Duckett was born Sept. 3, 1888, near Stanhope. He came to Corwith with his parents 47 years ago. He was graduated from the Corwith high school and became a rural letter carrier at Corwith in 1913. He was appointed postmaster at Corwith in 1920 and retired in 1934 because of failing health. Since that time he had operated the Merchants theater.
Mr. Duckett was elected secretary of the board of education at Corwith in May 1923 and had served in that office since that time.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Dayle and Glenn of Chicago, two brothers, Frank, of Minot, N. Dak., and Edward of Santa Ana, Cal.; one sister, Mrs. R. T. Timmons, of Des Moines, and an uncle, R. S. Moore of Clear Lake.
