GARNER - Lorain F. Bredlow, 89, of Garner died Friday (September 2, 2011) at the Concord Care Center in Garner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 9th at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Lorain Frances Bredlow, the daughter of Franklin and Julia (Borchers) Bredlow, was born April 19, 1922, on a farm near Garner, a twin to her brother, LeRoy. She attended the rural schools of Liberty Township and graduated from Garner High School in 1939. During her school years she was a dedicated member of the Liberty Busy Bees 4-H Club. Lorain was an excellent seamstress crafting clothes for herself as well as her two younger sisters and other family members. Lorain lived and worked on the family farm southwest of Garner until such time when she took employment at West's Department Store in Garner. She later worked at Hale Phipps Motors in Garner as a bookkeeper. When Phipps Motors moved to Mason City she followed the business and made her home in Mason City. In 1978, she moved to Clear Lake where she worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Boyle, Schuler and Grabinski. Before retiring at age 75, she was employed as a secretary at Nieman Titan Tire Company in Ventura. On April 6, 2004 she entered the Concord Care Center in Garner. Family was always a big part of her life. She was a loyal and loving sister to her siblings. Her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews were all very special to her and she was always interested in their accomplishments. Lorain was an avid sports enthusiast of all types of sporting events.

She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Garner.

Lorain is survived by her sister Marjorie (William) Millard of Perry, MO; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bredlow of Garner and Mildred Bredlow of Garner; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sheryll (Larry) Peterson; brothers, Glen (Hazel) Bredlow, Marvin (Viola) Bredlow, Ronald Bredlow, twin brother, LeRoy; nephew, Charles Millard; and other family members.
