Britt Pioneer To Be Buried
Mrs. Henry Wagner, 61, Died at Her Home in Hancock.Britt, Dec. 31 - Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Henry Wagner Thursday at 10 o'clock in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Britt. A requiem high mass will be in charge of the Rev. J. P. Quirren. Mrs. Wagner died at her home Sunday evening. The cause of her death was complication of diseases.
She was born in Bambridge, Ind., on Aug. 15, 1868. On Feb. 17 she became the bride of Henry Wagner at Iowa City. Mr. and Mrs. Wagner lived on a farm in Johnson county near Iowa City for two years. In the spring of 1892 they moved to Magor township, Hancock county, where they lived for 11 years.
Next they moved on a farm six miles east of Corwith. This farm was well known as the "Old Wagner place." Mr. and Mrs. Wagner resided on this farm for 21 years. Then, in 1922, Mr. and Mrs. Wagner retired from the farm and moved to Britt where they lived until called by death. Mr. Wagner died on Jan. 31, 1928.
Seven children were born: Mrs. Hanora Gordon of Forest City; Mrs. Eva Dunlap of Algona; Mrs. Clarence Smith of Britt; George Wagner of Schapkee, Minn.; Mrs. Lelia Schroeder and Mrs. Dora Peck of Britt and LeRoy Wagner of Corwith.
