Mrs. Southgate services here Friday a.m.
Services have been tentatively scheduled for Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the Congregational church for Mrs. Josephine Southgate, widow of the late Ben Southgate, pastor of the church here many years ago.
Mrs. Southgate died at 86 years of age Saturday at Long Beach, Calif. Burial will be beside her husband at Britt, where he was pastor when he died. McCullough's is in charge.
She is survived by five children: Mrs. Nichola (Priscilla) Furjanick, Long Beach; Mrs. Don (Dorothy) Thorp, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Olive Herbst, Algona; Dr. Paul Southgate, Long Beach; and Robert Southgate, Ypsilanti, Mich. There are 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Southgate Funeral Rites Here Tomorrow
Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Southgate, 86, former Algona resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Congregational church with the Rev. James E. Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Britt where Mrs. Southgate's husband served as pastor until his death. McCullough's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Southgate died Saturday at Long Beach, Calif., where she had made her home for the past several years. She formerly lived with a daughter, Mrs. Olive Herbst, here.
Mrs. Southgate's husband, Rev. Benjamin Southgate, served as pastor of the Congregational church here many years ago. Mrs. Southgate was always active in church affairs and had a pleasing personality that endeared her to many local residents.
Besides Mrs. Herbst here, Mrs. Southgate is survived by two other daughters, Priscilla (Mrs. Nicholas Furjanick), Long Beach; and Dorothy (Mrs. Don Thorp), Seattle, Wash,; two sons, Dr. Paul Southgate, Long Beach; and Robert Southgate, Ypsilanti, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, including Ted and Ben Herbst, Algona; and 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Southgate's body arrived here this morning (Thursday) from California.
