Garner tot is victim of accident
Karen Kinsella, 2, Garner, died in a Mason City hospital Thursday from injuries suffered in an automobile collision Wednesday evening.
She was a passenger in a car driven by her mother, Mrs. Michael (Eunice) Kinsella. Two other Kinsella children were in the car, also. Kirk, 6, and Kathy, 10, were hospitalized with their mother.
The accident occurred about one half mile west of the Allied Mills plant on Highway 106.
Highway patrolmen who investigated the accident said a car driven by Ida Mae Hill, Route 1, Clear Lake, was going west and slowed to make a turn into a farm driveway. The Kinsella car could not slow in time and struck the left rear fender of the Hill car. The impact threw the Kinsella car into the eastbound lane where it crashed almost head on with a car driven by Leonard Eugene Boyd, Mason City.
The patrolman said the Kinsella car blocked the highway and was struck again by a car driven by Richard Wayne Devin, Route 1, Clear Lake, who went into a ditch after colliding.
Boyd received bruises but was not hospitalized. Others in the accident reportedly were not injured.
Sheriff's officers assisted the highway patrol.
The funeral arrangements for Karen Kinsella are incomplete at the Bohn Funeral Home in Garner.
