Injuries are fatal to Garner girl
Garner - Nancy Jean Juhl, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Juhl, Garner, died at Belmond Community Hospital Friday as the result of injuries received in a car accident Wednesday night.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Garner. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. L. B. Striegel will officiate. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. The Rosary will be said at Bohn Funeral Home, Sunday at 8 p.m.
Born July 30, 1944, in Garner, she was to have been a senior in Garner High School this year. She is survived by her parents, a sister, Judith, Des Moines; three brothers, Duane, Mason City; Gerald, Chicago; Daniel, Garner. She was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Miss Juhl was riding in a car driven by Mike Dillon, 18, Belmond. About three miles south of Belmond, on a little used road, the car collided with a car in which Kenneth Hawley, 20, Belmond, was parked with the lights off. Dillon told Patrolman Ben Urban, Clarion, that the lights "had just gone off" on his car and he did not see the parked vehicle.
Hawley and Dillon appeared in the court of Justice of the Peace Cecil Winbigler, Belmond, Friday night. Hawley was fined $25 and costs for parking without lights; Dillon, $50 and costs for driving without lights.
