Garner Man Succumbs to Hemorrhage While Enroute to Hospital

Garner - Funeral services for Ray Durant, 70, who died suddenly Thursday morning from an internal hemorrhage while enroute to a Mason City hospital, were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Garner with the Rev. E. F. Broberg officiating. Interment in the Concord township cemetery.

Mr. Durant was born on a farm near Forest City, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Durant. He attended the Forest City schools and followed the occupation of farmer and interior decorator and of late years associated himself with the oil business, managing a station for some time for the Hancock county oil company and at the time of his death was operating his own station.

In February, 1901, he was married to Carrie Studer and to this union 3 children were born. Eva, a daughter, his father and mother, brothers, Arthur and Burt, and one sister, Lydia, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Myrle, who is stationed with the marines on Guam and Lee, of Miles City, Mont., 2 grandchildren and one sister at Bremerton, Wash.

The Bohn Funeral home of Garner is in charge.
