Mary Louise Parker, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Garner F. Parker, was born on July 8, 1920 at Pocahontas.

From an early age, Mary lived at Woodward, and in 1964 moved to Duncan Heights, near Garner. Mary was a very intelligent lady and her special ability to communicate her wants and needs was amazing to all who knew her. For many years while residing at Duncan Heights, Mary worked at Opportunity Village and the Garner Work Center.

Mary loved flowers and watching them grow, watching TV, listening to the radio, writing letters and sending cards celebrating her birthday, holidays, going on trips, and sweets. Mary took a sincere interest in the families of those who cared for her, especially their children.

In December of 2000, Mary moved to her new home at the Oakwood Care Center, where her interests continued and all staff grew to love her. Mary especially enjoyed teasing Oakwood employees, and she made regular phone calls to her wonderful friend, Dorothy Blumer, who did so many kind things for Mary.

Mary is survived by her special friend, Dorothy Blumer of Garner; and her many friends at Duncan Heights and the Oakwood Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
