FRANK J. URICH, GARNER, BURIED

Hancock Supervisor, Victim of Burns; Is Survived by 7 Children

GARNER, Feb. 3 - Funeral services for Frank J. Urich, county supervisor who died from burns received when his car exploded, were held Monday morning at St. Boniface Catholic church. It was estimated that 1,200 persons came to attend the rites, many of whom were unable to gain admittance to the church. Mr. Urich was born Feb. 2, 1867 in Varvazon, Bohemia, and came to the United States at the age of 3, first settling at Spillville. In 1874 the family moved to Pocohontas, then to Manley in 1876, and to Duncan in 1890.

Mr. Urich was married Feb. 3,1891, to Miss Mary Hejlik in Duncan who with one daughter and seven sons survive. They are Louis, Garner; Charles, Buffalo, Minn.; Ed, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Henry Wellik; George, Anton,Joseph and Paul, Garner. Six sisters and one brother are also living. They are Mrs. Barbara Hanzlik, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Anna Howell, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Mary Rayhons, Garner; Mrs. Frances Kolar, Mason City; Mrs. Rosa Hejlik, Garner; Mrs. Emma Wellik, Grand Meadow, Minn., and Joseph Urich Sr., Garner.

The Rev. Father M. J. Nanternach officiated at the services. The six oldest sons were pallbearers. The local order of Catholic Forresters attended in a body as did the county officials.

Those coming from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. John Rybak and Mrs. Mary Urban, Kimball, S. D.; Joe Rybak and Ray Angle, Minneapolis; James Chmela, St. Paul; Sister Mary Michael and Sister Vitalis, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. John Pavik, Pocohontas; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Dahl, Manley; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Ptacek and Frank Chilak, Elma, and Joseph Chilak, Cresco. Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic cemetery 2 1/2 miles west of Garner.
