OBITUARY OF SEVER SEVERSON
Kanawha, Iowa, Dec. 28 - Sever Severson was born at Spaanevik, Norway, on January 25, 1863, and passed away on December 25, 1936, at the home of his son, Clifford at Iowa Falls, at the age of 72 years, 11 months. His parents were Holden and Mary Severson. He resided in Norway until 1881 when he and his family came to Lisbon, Ill., where he lived for six years, and lived at Morris, Ill., for 20 years. In 1886 he was married to Malinda Fatland. In 1907 he and family came to Kanawha where they lived until 1918. His wife preceded him in death. Since her death Mr. Severson has lived with his children around Kanawha and Iowa Falls.
To Mr. and Mrs. Severson were born three sons and four daughters, one son Sanford, died while in service in the World War. The sons living are Henry O. Severson of Kanawha and Clifford Severson of Iowa Falls. The daughters are Mrs. Alvey Berhow of Kanawha. Mrs. Kittleson, Platteville, Ill., Mrs. Abe Shaw of Austin, Minn., and Mrs. Alfred Johnson of Minnesota. Surviving also are two brothers Henry and Ole Severson of Kanawha and one sister, Mrs. Sophie Sampson of Chickasaw, Okla. Mr. Severson received his education in Norway and his occupation was farming. He was a member of the Lutheran church.
Funeral services were held at the Kanawha Lutheran church in Kanawha on December 28 at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Morris N. Peterson officiating. The pallbearers were old friends from around Kanawha, Olaf Thompson, Joe Anderson, Knute Larson, E. P. Cook, Carl Mulholland and Ole Peterson.
