Ernest Senne Receives Fatal Cuts When Car Upsets
Senne, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Senne, living between Titonka and Woden, was killed early Thursday morning when the car in which he was riding turned over twice as he and two other youths, John Smith and Henry Gerdes of Woden, were returning from St. John's parish festival at Bancroft. Gerdes was injured but not seriously.
The accident happened on the Bancroft-Forest City road three miles north and one mile west of Woden in front of the Hugh Cline farm. It is believed that the right front tire was flat and that this tended to pull the car to one side of the road.
When the driver succeeded in getting the car back on the grade, the wheels locked and turned the car over twice. Broken glass cut the neck of young Senne and he bled to death. Smith went to the Cline residence and called a physician.
Body Taken Home
The body of Senne was taken to Buffalo Center and then brot to the home. The auto was badly damaged.

Early Thursday morning of last week a terrible accident occurred near the Hugh Cline farm home south of Buffalo Center on the Forest City-Bancroft road, when Ernest O. Senne, also from Titonka was killed instantly, and two Woden boys, John Smith and Henry Gerdes escaped death miraculously when their automobile turned over twice as they were returning from the festival at Bancroft.
The accident occurred between two and three o'clock. Senne was at the wheel and as his two companions had fallen asleep in the car, no one will perhaps ever know just how the accident occurred. The supposition is that the driver also fell asleep and as the car left the road into the ditch he awakened and in attempting to get the car back on the grade the wheels locked and turned the machine over twice. Broken glass cut the neck of young Senne and he bled to death. Smith and Gerdes were injured but not seriously. Smith walked to the Cline residence and called Dr. Dolmage. The body of Senne was brought to town here and later was removed to his home at Titonka. The car was badly damaged.
Funeral services for Senne was held at the Lutheran church south of Buffalo Center last Saturday afternoon with Rev. A. Killian, pastor of the church in charge. The attendance at the last sad rites was one of the largest ever held from this church. He was 24 years of age and leaves his father, Ernest Senne, two brothers, one sister, two half sisters and his stepmother, all living at Titonka. His mother died 18 years ago. Young Seene was a cousin of Miss Alma Plasier, employed here at the Home Bakery. She also attended the funeral. He met instant death. His skull was crushed and he had cuts on his face and neck and also his diaphragm.
