Daisy Stevenson, 88

Services for Mrs. Daisy Stevenson, 88, of Britt, who died Monday, May 21, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 24 at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt with Rev. Blane Balduf of the Congregational United Church of Christ as officiant. Mrs. Dean Cataldo was the organist and soloist.

Casketbearers will be: Don Anderson, Charles Anderson, Tom Deibler, Bill Deibler, Bob Deibler and Joe Deibler. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Britt.

Daisy Mae Stevenson, the daughter of Charles E. and Phoebe Olive (Raney) Clark was born June 24, 1895 at St. Joe, Iowa. She was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Joe. Her family lived in the Algona and Britt areas where she also attended school. August 20, 1914 she was married to James Ross at Britt. They lived in Britt all of their married life, except for the years when her husband was sheriff of Hancock County, they lived in Garner. After James' death, June 10, 1940, she worked in Hampton and Des Moines. July 21, 1946 she was married to Harold Stevenson at Hampton. They moved to Britt the same year where she made her home until her death. She had also worked at Kreitinger's Hardware Store, Pearce's Greenhouse and the Lewis General Store.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Merle (Ireta) Deibler of Miller and Mrs. Donald (Bettie) Anderson of Britt; four brothers, Robert Clark, Kanawha, Ronald Clark and his wife, Alice, of Corwith, Howard Clark of Spring Valley, Minn., and Ira Merle Clark and his wife, Maizie, of Woburn, Mass., 3 sisters in law, Mrs. Esther Clark of Des Moines, Mrs. Jessie Nall and Mrs. Neva Ross, both of Britt; 16 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ross; her second husband, Harold Stevenson, May 8, 1966; an infant son, Donald James Ross; a grandson, Tom Anderson, a granddaughter, Mrs. Mary Evans; a great grandson, Adam Anderson; her parents; 4 brothers, Charles Clark Jr., Floyd Clark, Leo Clark, Roy Clark; 5 sisters, Mrs. Vera Southwick, Mrs. Eva Potter, Mrs. Hattie Hartzell, Mrs. Ethel Johnson and Mrs. Mamie Fitch.
