Palmer Pearson

BRITT: Palmer Pearson of Britt, who was born in Sweden and came to the United States in 1916, died Monday (Dec. 19, 1983) at the Britt Hospital. He was 87.

Funeral services will be at 10:30, a.m. Thursday at the Britt Evangelical Free Church, of which Mr. Pearson was a member. The Rev. Robert Nieuwendorp will officiate.

Visitation is after 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cataldo Funeral Home, Britt.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery here, and graveside military rites will be conducted by the Britt Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Mr. Pearson was born in Kylinge, Sweden, on April 26, 1896, to Johan and Johanna (Swanson) Pearson. He came to the United States in 1916 and settled in the Wesley area.

He served in Europe with the U.S. Army in World I.

Mr. Pearson married Ida Oscarson at Wesley on March 13, 1921. They farmed in the Britt and Wesley areas until 1966, when they moved to Britt.

Mrs. Pearson died in January 1976, and Mr. Pearson married Greta Ostercamp at Britt on Nov. 20, 1976. She died March 7, 1983.

Mr. Pearson is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Astred) Schwab, Britt; two sons, Arnold, Mason City, and Eldon, Garner; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Dean (Marie) Hiscocks, Dexter, Minn.; Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Weiland, Fremont; Mrs. Ron (Ila) Nielsen, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Jack, (Joyce) Heen, Lincoln, Neb.; two stepsons, Herman Ostercamp, Britt, and George Ostercamp, Mesa, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 23 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.
