BRITT PIONEER TO BE BURIED

John H. Paulson, 82, Was Early Pioneer in Hancock

BRITT, Oct. 9 - John H. Paulson, Sr., 82, an aged Britt pioneer, died in Springfield, Ill., on Monday, Oct. 7 at 5:15 o'clock. He died at the home of his only brother, Nels Johnson.

Mr. Paulson was in an auto accident about a week ago, and received injuries to his arm. His death was caused by leakage of the heart.

He was born in Denmark in 1847. In the spring of 1868, Mr. Paulson came to America where he settled in Racine Wis. From Racine, he moved to Chicago, Ill., and then to Springfield, Ill.

He married Kjestine Fredrika Hammer in 1876 in Springfiled, Ill.

To this union were born 10 children, six boys and four girls. Mrs. Paulson preceded her husband in death 13 years. She died at her home on Nov. 22, 1916.

Mr. and Mrs. Paulson moved to Iowa in 1883 and settled on the farm one and one half miles southwest of Britt.

Mr.Paulson, himself, built a schoolhouse and placed it on his own farm. The building was used for many years as a schoolhouse, but now it is standing in the farm yard.

There are six living children. They are: John H. Jr., Clarence H., and Sidney H., Anna H., Mrs. Rankin Fish all of Britt and Mrs. Caroline Kennedy of Rolfe, Iowa.

Four children preceded Mr. Paulson in death. Two sons died during young manhood, while two children died during infancy.

Funeral arrangements have not been fully made. The funeral will be at the home and the Congregational church. Burial will be made in the Evergreen cemetery beside his wife and children.
