Former Farmer Dies at Garner

Funeral Wednesday for Albert Jass, 78

Garner - Albert Jass, 78, retired farmer, died at his home at 3:30 a.m. Monday after a long illness.

Mr. Jass was a native of Germany born Oct. 28, 1869, and came to the United States in 1882, settling near the St. John's church.

He was married to Helena Bohn Jan. 4, 1900, and they lived on a farm in Ellington township until 1943 when they retired and moved to Garner.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Bohn funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran church, the Rev. L. W. Heidemann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, 4 sons, Edward, Ventura; Bert, Clear Lake; Ralph, Garner, and Eugene, Garner; and 3 daughters, Mrs. Albert Boehnke,Garner; Mrs. Amanda Eisberg, near Garner, and Hattie, at home.

He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Gus and Herman, Garner; Mrs. Otto Schmidt, Ventura; Mrs. Julius Bohn, Nora Springs; Mrs. Fred Hoeft, Forest City; Mrs. William Boehnke, Garner; Mrs. Sam Wrede, Garner, and Mrs. Ed Steinberg, Winona, Minn.
