GARNER NEWS

Burial

Mr. and Mrs. H. Standberg, Mrs. Kaufman and two little girls accompanied the remains of the late Harry Kaufman of Des Moines to Garner Wednesday afternoon for burial. The funeral services had been conducted in the city by Rev. Kirby, pastor of the Congregational church, while Rev. S. M. McConnell of the U. P. church officiated at the burial. Although the Rock Island train was two and a half hours late bringing the funeral party here at six o'clock, a goodly company of friends expressed their sympathy by meeting them and accompanying them to Concord cemetery where burial took place.

The magnificent and large gifts of choice cut flowers and pieces represent the high esteem in which Mr. Kaufman was held. A specially beautiful one constructed of white narcissus and pink roses came from the traveling men of the Chamberlain. Others were from the manager of this hotel and from the bell boys and porters. Besides very many others from neighbors and organizations including a harp so large it had to be crated for shipment.

There are still many people in Mason City who were well acquainted with Harry Kauffman, for several years past a clerk at the Chamberlain Hotel, Des
Moines, who died Saturday after a three days illness with tonsillitis, whose demise was mentioned in yesterday's issue. Mr. Kauffman was for a number of years connected with the Anderson hotel here, now the Cerro Gordo, as was Mrs. Kauffman, who is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Strandberg of Garner,Iowa. Mr. Kauffman is remembered here as a good hotel worker, and there are a great many men, whose duties require them to travel, and who have known him here and at Des Moines, who will regret to hear of his passing.
