Julius Katt, 82, dies at Britt

BRITT: Julius Klatt, 82, a retired baker and Britt resident, died early Friday at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital here of a heart attack.

Klatt was born Feb. 11, 1880 in Mariendorp, Germany, the son of Ludwig and Augusta Georschel Klatt. The family came to Chicago when the boy was 14 years old. He was married May 20, 1905 to Bertha Streich in Chicago. The couple lived at New Hampton for a number of years and came to Britt in 1940. He retired from the bakery business in 1951.

Survivors are his wife, Bertha; two sons, Elmer of Cresco and Harold of Clear Lake; two daughters, Mrs. William (Erna) Konkel of Chicago, and Mrs. Clarence (Esther) Peterson of Sioux City; a brother, William of Calmar; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Services are tentatively set for Monday at the First Lutheran Church at Britt, the Rev. Paul W. Adix officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, the Boughton Funeral Home in charge.
