Bernhard Jensen

BRITT: Bernhard Jensen, 85, died Wednesday night at Hancock County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Upper Flat Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. William Moritz will officiate. Military rites will be conducted at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt by the James Rasmussen American Legion Post 409 of Crystal Lake.

Born Nov. 10, 1886, in Denmark, he was the son of Nels and Dorothea Hansen Jensen. He came to this country in 1910 and settled near Crystal Lake. He served in World War I and was a charter member of the American Legion post at Crystal Lake. He was married to Anna Peterson March 24, 1920 and they farmed in the Upper Flat community.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Nels Jensen, Garner; Edwin Jensen, Charles City; two daughters, Mrs. Mercer (Christina) Bruggeman, Klemme;
Mrs. Albert (Edith) Nieman, Emmons, Minn.; 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a brother, Christian Jensen, in Denmark.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert, killed in World War II; three brothers and a sister.
