Ed Wood, Woden Died Sunday Of Crash Injuries

Woden - Ed Wood, retired farmer died Sunday at 9:25 a.m. at a Mason City hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile collision Saturday evening at a crossroads four and one-half miles northeast of Woden.

Mr. Wood and his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. ad Mrs. Jack DeVries and son were on their way to Forest City when the accident occurred. They were taken to the Irish hospital at Forest City and Mr. Wood was later taken to the Park hospital at Mason City. Mr. and Mrs. DeVries suffered minor injuries and shock, and were dismissed Sunday morning.

Henry Tjarks of near Wesley was the driver of the other car. He escaped uninjured. Both cars were demolished.

Surviving Mr. Wood are four sons: William and John of Woden, Elmer of Detroit, Michigan, and Melvin of Woden; three daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Godfredsen of Thompson, Mrs. Kenneth Kuchenreuther of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Jack DeVries of Woden. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Morris Smith of Britt and Fannie Dudgeon of Kentucky; two brothers, John and William of Kentucky; seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Wood was 67 years of age on the day of his death (Mothers Day). His wife preceded him in death last summer.

Funeral service will be held at the Methodist church in Woden Thursday afternoon.
