Donald L. Spiess

BRITT - Former Britt resident Donald L. Spiess, 64, died Thursday (May 20, 1982) in a Fayetteville, Ark., hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:30 this afternoon at Carter Ewing Funeral Home, Britt. Mr. Spiess' brother in law, the Rev. Don Zieman of Texas, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.

Carter Ewing Funeral Home, Britt, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Spiess was born near Pomeroy and attended schools there. He married Dorothy Zieman on Dec. 6, 1939, in Palmer, and they farmed in North Central Iowa. In 1964 he went to work with the Hancock County road maintenance crew. In 1967 he went to work with the Britt city street department.

In 1979 they moved to Bentonville, Ark., where he was employed by Peterson Industries.

Mr. Spiess is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Terry Nevada; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Cheryl) Gardner, Woden; four grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Spiess of Jewess, Miss., and Charles Spiess of Anchorage, Alaska, and a sister, Helen Gehl of Sumner, Wash.
