Crystal Lake Boy Succumbs to Polio

Crystal Lake - Bruce Volding, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Volding, farmers 2 miles southwest of Crystal Lake, died of polio at the Blank Memorial hospital at Des Moines at 11 p.m. Sunday.

The young man, an only child, would have been a junior in Crystal Lake high school this fall. He was taken to Des Moines Friday where his ailment was diagnosed as bulbar polio.

The body is at the Boughton funeral home at Britt. It was the 1st 1950 polio death in Crystal Lake.
