Goodell Woman Dies After Year's Illness
Goodell - Mrs. Peter Steenblock, 78, died Monday at the Good Samaritan Home, Mason City, where she had been a patient the last five weeks. She had been in failing health the last year.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Fulton Funeral Home, Belmond, and at 2:30 p.m. at the Goodell EUB Church. The Rev. Donald Varce will officiate. Burial will be in Amsterdam Cemetery.
Margaret Frohling was born Sept. 19, 1880, in Freeport, Ill. The family came to the Belmond vicinity when she was a small child. She was married to Peter Steenblock and they farmed east of Goodell many years. He died in 1946. Mrs. Steenblock moved to Belmond 12 years ago.
Survivors are nine children, Peter Jr. and Harvey, Kanawha; Mrs. Ray (Gertrude) Pals, Kanawha; Mrs. Barney (Hattie) Koenan, Belmond; Mrs. Alfred (Leona) Meinders, Mrs. Abbie (Edna) Meints, both of Thornton; Ted, Dale and Richard, Goodell; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four children, Harold, in infancy; Mrs. Hero (Nettie) Pals, Donald and Merle.
